This Week's Dinner Plans


Each week I peek in my fridge, freezer, and garden, to see what needs to be used up and I take a couple of minutes to think of ways to use up those ingredients in the next few days...



MONDAY:  Mac'n Cheese and Wieners, Salad
  • From the freezer: nothing
  • From the pantry: mac'n cheese
  • From the fridge: 4 hot dogs, margarine, milk, heart of romaine, tomatoes, cuke, 1/2 avocado, dressing
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance: nothing
  • Need to buy: nothing

TUESDAY: Tuna Patties, Brown Rice, Steamed Broccoli
  • From the freezer: sharp cheddar
  • From the pantry: tuna cans, brown rice
  • From the fridge: eggs, bread crumbs, broccoli
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance: cook brown rice in microwave
  • Need to buy: nothing

WEDNESDAY: Zuppa Toscana with Ciabatta Bread
  • From the freezer: chipotle chicken sausages
  • From the pantry: potatoes, onion, white wine, red pepper flakes
  • From the fridge: Better than Bouillon (chicken), minced garlic, whipping cream
  • Need to harvest: kale
  • Need to make in advance: nothing
  • Need to buy: ciabatta bread

THURSDAY: Oven-Ready Lasagne with Ground Beef and Traditional Sauce, Salad
  • From the freezer: ground beef
  • From the pantry: Pasta sauce, EVOO, salt & pepper
  • From the fridge: Ricotta cheese (not in the recipe but I have some to use up), mozzarella cheese, Romaine heart, cuke, avocado, dressing, leftover pasta sauce jar
  • Need to harvest: basil
  • Need to make in advance: grate the mozzarella cheese
  • Need to buy: grape tomatoes

FRIDAY: Pasta, Ham & Vegetable Frittata and Salad
  • From the freezer: nothing
  • From the pantry: EVOO, onion
  • From the fridge: ham (not in the recipe but I'm adding it), zucchini, minced garlic, milk, eggs, lettuce, cucumber, dressing
  • Need to harvest: basil
  • Need to make in advance: cook spaghetti
  • Need to buy: spinach

SATURDAY: Salisbury Hamburger Helper, Herbed Peas
  • From the freezer: ground beef
  • From the pantry:  Hamburger Helper, can of sweet peas, oregano, basil
  • From the fridge: nothing
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance: nothing
  • Need to buy: nothing

SUNDAY: Pizza and Salad
  • From the freezer: nothing
  • From the pantry: pizza sauce
  • From the fridge: Ham and pepperoni, jalapeƱo, pineapple, Romaine heart, tomatoes, cucumber, dressing
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance: pizza dough
  • Need to buy: mozzarella (fresh)

  1. Yum! Nice menu plan for the week.

    My meal plan for the week will feature leftovers. Lunch today was leftover rice and leftover smoked sausage and broccoli stir-fry, made into fried rice with the addition of a beaten egg. I couldn't finish what I made, so dinner will be leftover fried rice! There's more leftover rice, leftover beef curry, leftover chicken curry, and leftover canned corned beef in the fridge! Lots of leftovers to choose from! Somehow, your menu sounds more appealing!

    1. I used to hate leftovers but now I love leftovers. A week of leftovers wouldn't bother me, especially if it means I don't have to cook, hahaha.

      Other people's menus always sound better, I think. I love the word "curry" but I never seem to get around to cooking it. I have yet to make your fish curry. I should try it with the next fish that Greg brings home!
