This Week's Dinner Plans

Each week I peek in my fridge, freezer, and garden, to see what needs to be used up and I take a couple of minutes to think of ways to use up those ingredients in the next few days...

MONDAY:  Pizza and Salad
Bought a deli medium cheese pizza on 50% clearance at Save A Lot and made a side salad

TUESDAY:  Grilled Smoked Turkey Sausage and Cheesy Zucchini Bites
  • From the freezer: Butterball Smoked Turkey Sausage, diced onion, grated parmesan cheese
  • From the pantry: baking mix, salt, seasoned salt, dried marjoram, pepper,vegetable oil
  • From the fridge: zucchini, minced garlic, eggs
  • Need to harvest: parsley
  • Need to make in advance: bake after baking a loaf of bread
  • Need to buy: nothing

WEDNESDAY: Pasta, Ham & Vegetable Frittata and Salad
  • From the freezer: nothing
  • From the pantry: EVOO, onion
  • From the fridge: ham (not in the recipe but I'm adding it), zucchini, minced garlic, milk, eggs, lettuce, cucumber, dressing
  • Need to harvest: basil
  • Need to make in advance: cook spaghetti
  • Need to buy: spinach

THURSDAY: Cheeseburgers, Corn on the Cob and Stir-Fried Collard Greens
  • From the freezer: ground beef
  • From the pantry: EVOO, seasonings
  • From the fridge: hamburger buns, corn on the cob, collard greens
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance: nothing
  • Need to buy: nothing

FRIDAY: Grilled Chicken and Southern-Style Potato Salad
  • From the freezer: chicken legs and breasts, bacon
  • From the pantry: potatoes, salt & pepper
  • From the fridge: sour cream, eggs, light mayo, mustard, sweet relish
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance: hard-boiled eggs, cook potatoes and cool
  • Need to buy: light sour cream, celery

SATURDAY: Zuppa Toscana with Homemade Bread Rolls
  • From the freezer: chipotle chicken sausages
  • From the pantry: potatoes, onion, white wine, red pepper flakes
  • From the fridge: Better than Bouillon (chicken), minced garlic, whipping cream, collard greens
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance: bread rolls
  • Need to buy: nothing

SUNDAY: Salisbury Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Honey Glazed Carrots
  • From the freezer: ground beef, diced celery
  • From the pantry: kosher salt, bread crumbs, onion powder,  Worcestershire sauce, pepper, potatoes
  • From the fridge: egg, butter, carrots, Better Than Bouillon Chicken, milk, butter
  • Need to harvest: thyme
  • Need to make in advance: Nothing
  • Need to buy: nothing

What's cooking in your kitchen this week?


  1. Wow, look at you able to plan a whole week's worth of menus without needing to buy anything other than some spinach, celery and sour cream! That's going to be great on the grocery budget!

    I've no idea what I'm going to cook this week. It all depends on what I feel like eating. Still not much of an appetite and not much tastes good. :(

    1. Oh no, I thought your sense of taste had returned almost back to normal. Sorry that you don't have an appetite. You're losing weight, though, and I wish I would lose weight. But people who eat cake for breakfast aren't going to lose weight, right? I finished the cake this morning, incidentally.

      I'm going to try to have a small grocery trip this week. Aside from eggs, I shouldn't need any proteins and I'm going to try to limit how much fruit I buy. I bought too much last week!
