This Week's Dinner Plans: Monday 4/3 through Sunday 4/9, 2017


Each week I peek in my fridge, freezer, and garden, to see what needs to be used up and I take a couple of minutes to think of ways to use up those ingredients in the next few days...



MONDAY:  Cheeseburgers and Corn on the Cob
  • From the freezer: ground beef
  • From the pantry: homemade Montreal Steak Seasoning
  • From the fridge: cheese slices, blue cheese crumbles, buns, condiments, homemade zesty pickles, butter
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance:  nothing
  • Need to buy:  nothing

TUESDAY: Portobello Mushroom Stroganoff and Steamed Asparagus
  • From the freezer: nothing
  • From the pantry: flour, egg noodles
  • From the fridge: onion, light sour cream, portobello mushrooms, Better Than Bouillon Beef
  • Need to harvest: parsley
  • Need to make in advance: nothing
  • Need to buy: nothing

WEDNESDAY: Southwestern Turkey Meatloaf 
  • From the freezer: 2 lbs ground turkey
  • From the pantry:  white rice, vegetable oil, 1 can black beans, 1 can corn kernels, sofrito tomato cooking base, taco seasoning, tortilla chips (crushed)
  • From the fridge: onion, minced garlic, Better Than Bouillon Beef, Monterey Jack cheese
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance:  ** Needs to bake for up to 90 minutes**  - Bake it outdoors in electric roaster.
  • Need to buy:  more taco seasoning, fresh cilantro, cheddar cheese

THURSDAY: Orange Ginger Pork Stir-Fry with Hot Rice and Steamed Asparagus
* Recipe from the Orange Ginger Stir-Fry sauce jar
  • From the freezer: 4 thin pork loin chops, sliced multicolored peppers
  • From the pantry: cornstarch, vegetable oil, ,white rice
  • From the fridge: cilantro paste, asparagus, spinach with mandarins
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance: nothing
  • Need to buy: broccoli (fresh or frozen)

FRIDAY:  Pecan Crusted Tilapia with Seasoned Cheese Grits
  • From the freezer: tilapia fillets, bacon
  • From the pantry:  breadcrumbs, flour, vegetable oil, seasoned salt, quick-cooking grits, butter, Montreal steak seasoning
  • From the fridge: pecan pieces, milk, egg, grated parmesan, shredded mozzarella, 
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance:  grate and mix the cheeses
  • Need to buy: nothing

SATURDAY:  Grilled Taco Burger and Potato Foil Packets
  • From the freezer: ground beef, Southern-style hashbrown potatoes
  • From the pantry: taco seasoning, plain breadcrumbs, cheese 'n salsa dip
  • From the fridge: sour milk or powdered goat milk, 
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance:  ** Clean and heat up the grill**
  • Need to buy:  nothing

SUNDAY:  Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwiches and Soup
  • From the freezer: nothing
  • From the pantry:  cans of soup
  • From the fridge: butter, ham, cheese slices, bread
  • Need to harvest: nothing
  • Need to make in advance: nothing
  • Need to buy: nothing

  1. Yummy sounding dinners you have planned, there, Nathalie. I bought a piece of meat and some fish, so that's what I'll be cooking. Need to buy some vegetables, though.

    1. I do need to cook more vegetables too. I bought some collard greens on clearance today so I'll sneak them into some recipes.

  2. Sounds like a tasty week at your house. We're using up some spinach and ham tonight with scrambled eggs.

    1. Well now I wish I had planned on making what you're having... sounds yummy AND easy. And I do have all the ingredients, but I really need to use up those portoballo mushrooms! Darn.
