No Drive Days

Starting on 1/1/17
Goal: 7 totally non-drive days before 1/1/17 =  just 1 week of not using the cars at all.  Note: this year again will be very challenging to even reach 7 days as my daughter finishes the school year by attending college classes in the next town over and Youngest Son learns how to drive!  I will continue to strive to run all my errands on Wednesday mornings and maybe Greg will be able to work from home once in a while.

  1. Saturday 2/11/17

Starting on 1/1/16

Goal: 7 totally non-drive days before 1/1/17 =  just 1 week of not using the cars at all.

Note: this year will be very challenging to even reach 7 days, I think. We now have 3 cars in the household. My daughter is driving our 3rd car and will have to drive on some weekends to go visit her father who lives 1 hour away. She also wants to be healthier so she might drive to the gym on weekends. As for me, I have decided to continue shopping once a week and thus reducing my errands, but I also want to diversify the ways in each I'm going to exercise this year, which might mean my driving to the trailhead on some days. I'd like to say that I will try to take the new bus route but to be honest that is probably NOT going to happen, in all honesty, especially as I would have to walk 1 mile to one of the stops and then over one mile from the stop in Clermont to the trail.  I might as well just walk around my neighborhood, which I don't like doing. Also, our son starts high school in the Fall, and I will be driving him and picking him up from school every day, so this is NOT going to be a good year for No Drive Days. But we'll try our best!

  11. Saturday 8/27/16

Starting on 1/1/15

Goal: 24 totally non-drive days before 1/1/16 = over 3 weeks of not using the cars at all.

Note: this should be easy since I run all my errands once a week only, our son walks to school and Greg will try to work from home 2 days per week.  However, my teenage daughter will probably start living with us full-time this year and I let her drive my car to school 4 days out of 5, so this will actually be a challenge.

8/15/15: We made it! My daughter also got a job today so I doubt that we will be having any more No Drive Days from now on, between her job and dual enrollment.
